Celebrate Memorial Day with Local Concerts Happening Next Two Weekends

Memorial Day is Monday, May 25, and there are several celebratory events throughout metro Atlanta that residents of our communities can attend both this weekend and next.

This Friday, May 22, the City of Suwanee will celebrate Memorial Day weekend with a free concert at Town Center Park. Sponsored by the Gwinnett Daily Post, the family-fun evening will feature patriotic music and song by The Gwinnett Community Band and the Sugar Hill LDS Choir. A parachute demonstration will be given by members of the Silver Wings, the Command Exhibition Parachute Team that is a part of the U.S. Army Infantry based at Fort Benning, at 7:30 p.m. weather permitting. Admission is free but attendees are asked to bring a canned food item to be donated to a local food bank. You will also want to bring a picnic basket, blanket and chairs, but no alcohol is allowed.

The Gwinnett Daily Post Memorial Day Weekend Concert is a great opportunity for residents of our McGinnis Reserve, Brynfield and Ashmore communities to enjoy Memorial Day weekend. The celebration continues the weekend after Memorial Day in Cobb County with the 4th Annual 97.1 The River Wing n’ Rock Fest at Marietta Square on Saturday, May 30 from 1:30 p.m. to 9;30 p.m. Attendees will enjoy wings from multiple local restaurants including Taco Mac, Wild Wing Cafe, Twisted Taco, Buffalo Wild Wings and more. Live music will be provided by classic rock cover and tribute bands such as Chain Reaction, Rock Fight and the kids from School of Rock on the Pigeon Forge band stage. Children will also enjoy the Gas South Kidzone featuring an extreme slide, monster Jeep inflatable and an adventure course. Additional activities include a wing eating contest at 4:30 p.m. and cold beer will be provided by Miller Lite and Miller Chill.

The 4th Annual 97.1 The River Wing n’ Rock Fest is a great opportunity for residents of our Caswell Overlook and Sweetwater Landing communities to enjoy a family-fun night out.
