Penny Power Promotion Comes to an End

By Bowen

Grand Finale Winners Penny Power PromotionToday marked the final day of the Penny Power Promotion and what a morning it was! Realtors and prospective homebuyers alike turned out in droves to compete in the Grand Finale Penny Toss held at the Gwinnett Center at 9:00 a.m.

After signing in and choosing prize envelopes, one which contained $50,000 for Realtors, and one that contained a brand new home for prospective homebuyers, participants were invited to perfect their penny tossing skills in one of the many practice bays. The room quickly filled with music, laughter and chatter as participants enjoyed breakfast and caught up with friends and coworkers.

The mood shifted when the competition began. Participants lined the sidelines cheering and groaning as one by one finalists were eliminated from the chance at winning a new home or $50,000 during the 15-foot toss. On the prospective homebuyer side, one man stood apart from the competition and claimed the win. Charles Cooper was the only homebuyer to toss his penny into the fishbowl from 15-feet away, earning himself a chance at a brand new home. It turns out that a new home was not in the cards for Mr. Cooper, but he still went home happy $2,500 richer!

There proved to be a little more competition during the Realtor Toss. After the first round, the competition came down to two men. After taking their spots at the 15-foot mark, both men tossed and missed sending the competition into a third round. During this round the penny toss was moved in from 15-feet to ten-feet to accommodate the tossers. After Tommy Slappey tossed and missed his first try, Michael Garcia stepped up to the line and sent his penny soaring straight into the fishbowl using an unexpected and unorthodox overhand toss. His perfect toss won him the chance at $50,000, but upon opening his prize bag he learned that he too had won $2,500. Garcia was so excited about winning the money that he even offered to stay and help clean up.

It was a great morning and everyone who qualified for the Grand Finale earned $1,000 to use towards the purchase of a Bowen Family Home. Thank you to everyone who participated and to all the Realtors and communities who opened their doors to us, we really could not have done it without you.
