Free Family Friendly Fun Events Around Atlanta

It’s that time of year, the gifts have been opened, Christmas wishes have been fulfilled and you’ve traveled here and there to see various family and friends. The only question that remains is what to do with the kids over the weekends as the winter grows colder and the outdoors become more unfriendly.

That’s where we step in. Bowen Family Homes’ has compiled a list of family friendly, free events happening all around the metro-Atlanta area. These events are the perfect way to spend some quality family time together without breaking the bank.

Now through January 3, Centennial Olympic Park will be hosing the annual Holiday in Lights. 2009 marks the 11th anniversary for this Atlanta tradition. Bring the family down to see the winter wonderland. Take a stroll through the thousands of lights that light up the 21-acre park, or strap on your skates and take a spin around Atlanta’s only outdoor ice skating rink. Afterwords you can grab a bite to eat at one of the many restaurants within walking distance, it’s the perfect way to wrap up the holiday season. Holiday in Lights will be on display now through January 3 and the park is open from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m.

Beginning in February, residents of  Caswell Overlook, Sweetwater Landing and other Cobb County neighborhoods should head over to Downtown Acworth for First Fridays. Beginning February 5, the merchants of Downtown Acworth will be open late on the first Friday of each month. Each Friday will have a different theme and features live music, sidewalk sales, children’s activities, all of which are sure to provide fun for the entire family.
