Free Family Fun This Saturday in Gwinnett

This Saturday, May 8, residents in the Lawrenceville area of Gwinnett County have a couple of free, family-oriented activities to take the kids to.

Homeowners in the Bowen Family Homes new homes community of Freeman Crossing, or new townhomes community of Alcovy Falls, are just over a mile away from Freeman’s Mill Park, where a grand opening celebration will begin at 10 a.m. The day will kick off with a ribbon cutting, followed by free activities for the kids, story telling, tours and historic demonstrations. Freeman’s Mill Park  features a beautiful historic restored grist mill. A half-mile paved walking trail provides a wonderful place for exercise, and the children’s playground reflects the mill’s history with a child-sized, plastic water wheel. The celebration lasts until 2 p.m. The park is located at 1401 Alcovy Road, Lawrenceville, GA 30045.

Another option for a free family-fun day is to visit Vines Garden in Loganville. This event is in celebration of National Railroad day and gives families the opportunity to tour the garden as well as enjoy the small scale railroads that run throughout and include tiny towns and airports as well.
