Community Heroes Receive Incentives for Buying New Homes

By Bowen

american heroesBowen Family Homes recognizes Georgia’s true with its Community Heroes Program that allows for firefighters, police officers, EMTs, teachers and public servants to receive up to $1,000 for upgrades or toward closing costs for a new home.

Military personnel can also save on the purchase of a new Bowen Family home. Recently, a Military Tax Credit was introduced that allows those who served on official duty outside of the United States for 90 days or more between Jan. 1, 2009 and April 30, 2010 to be eligible for an extended home buyer tax credit through April 30, 2011.

To qualify, you must be a member of the uniformed services of the United States military, a member of the Foreign Service of the United States, or an employee of the intelligence community.

Those interested in taking advantage of this tax buyer credit only have until April 30, 2011 to sign a sales contract. Homes must be closed on by June 30, 2011.  Both the $8,000 first-time and $6,500 repeat home buyer tax credits are included.

In addition, the original stipulation that required buyers to repay the tax credit if they moved out of their home within three years has also been waived for qualified service members if they had to sell their home due to government orders for extended duty service.
