HomeAid Atlanta, a nonprofit dedicated to providing homes for those without, is taking a short break from their home building endeavors this Friday. At 4 p.m. on December 13, the non-profit builder is partnering with American Girl, building ginger bread houses for American Girl Dolls.
Bring your daughter and her American Girl Doll out to North Point Mall to for a fun filled afternoon creating her dream gingerbread house. American Girl will provide all the materials needed to make the perfect home for her doll. After your home is complete visit the American Girl restaurant located in the store. Bring in the Holidays with Tree Lighting Ceremonies

As December draws near we find ourselves looking for opportunities to celebrate the season with our friends and family.
Residents living in Gwinnett and Forsyth counties won’t have any problems. Both counties will be hosting holiday Christmas tree lighting ceremonies complete with a visit from Santa and yummy goodies. These fun filled holiday events are the perfect way to celebrate the holiday season.
Join the city of Cumming on December 5 as they usher in the holidays with the Cumming Christmas Parade & Festival. The parade begins at 3:30 p.m. but you’ll want to make your way to Market Place Boulevard ahead of time so the little ones can get a good view of the parade, which will be complete with decorative floats, marching bands, festive holiday music, dance troops and more. Cobb County Approves Balanced Calendar

Residents of Caswell Overlook, Sweetwater Landing and other Cobb County neighborhoods will be seeing some changes to the academic calendar when it’s time to send their students back to school this fall 2010. On November 11 the Cobb County Board of Education approved a balanced calendar for Cobb County schools, which will take effect with the 2010-2011 school year. With the new balanced calendar, students will begin school the first week of August and end the Friday prior to Memorial Day in May. These changes create a shorter summer break for students, but allow for longer vacation periods during the school year.
