You’ve probably used them many times in the past to get auto, home, and life insurance quotes. Quote generator websites have been around in many different forms since the start of the Internet to help you get lower prices on many different kinds of insurance.
While there are many variations to the way these sites work, here is the basic process they follow for homeowners insurance. You enter information about your home including its location, size, age, roof type, construction materials, and other features along with your contact information. That information is sent by these websites to insurance companies who review your information and decide whether they would like to quote a price to insure your home.
All of the interested companies provide their quote information either directly to the website you originally visited or they might contact you either directly or through one of their agents. Depending on the quote generator website you used, you may receive an email containing a detailed quote, phone calls from insurance agents, or perhaps both.
In states other than Florida where there are hundreds of companies competing for your home insurance business, these quote generator websites can work well. They do the legwork for you and you end up with a lot of cost effective options to choose from.
Getting quotes for Florida home insurance presents a totally different situation when it comes to using these websites.
To begin with, unlike in other states, Florida has a lot fewer companies to choose from since only about 40 home insurance companies are writing new business. In addition, you should know that these Florida home insurance companies pay the quote generator websites for each lead that is provided to them. In reality what is happening is that the Florida insurance companies are paying the quote generator websites for the higher search engine rankings their sites have in order to reach more customers.
If you decide to use a Florida home insurance quote generator website, you will have to consider one or more of the following issues when using them.
First, some Florida homeowners insurance companies won’t partner with the quote generator websites at all. They sell Florida home insurance direct or through an agent network and don’t want to pay the additional fee to a quote website for the cost of the lead.
In addition, there are a large number of quote generator websites out there for each company to use to buy customer leads from. They will be limited to selecting only a handful of the quote generator websites that they feel will bring the most traffic and customer leads to them. More importantly, this means that none of these companies can afford to be featured on all of the quote generator websites. If you pick the wrong quote generator website, you might miss out on 10 to 15 companies in your Florida County that want to cover your home.
In each of the two situations described above, you’ll run a high risk of missing out on multiple homeowners insurance companies in Florida who want to cover your home or you’ll find that you are receiving the exact same quotes from the same few companies over and over again. No matter what, Florida home insurance will cost you more.
Missing out on even one company that is interested in covering you home is not a risk that you should take during the Florida home insurance crisis. Each new Florida home insurance quote that you obtain could save you thousands depending on where you live.
Finally, if you are planning on using a quote generator website to get Florida home insurance quotes, you have to consider the privacy of your personal information. While most of these websites protect your personal information, using some of them will result in you receiving a high volume of unwanted emails and phone calls from Florida insurance agents with a quote from the exact same company.
Given the situation with Florida home insurance, you have a much higher chance of finding lower cost insurance if you contact multiple independent agents that represent a large number of companies to cover your home instead of using the quote generator websites. Working with at least two large independent agents who can offer you the largest number of Florida home insurance agents is essential. Since each agent may represent a different group of companies, contacting more than one agent is your best chance to get a Florida home insurance quote from all the companies writing new business in your local market.
The more Florida home insurance quotes you get, the more you will save during the Florida home insurance crisis.

We had Allstate for several years and when we purchased our new home and car, we decided to compare rates. Allstate was the highest. Nationwide was okay, but they required a membership to the Farm Bureau to get their rates??!!?? We went with State Farm. We got more coverage for less money than any other place we compared.
go to the yellow pages, under Insurance, homeowners, look for an Independent Insurance Agent, that represents many different companies… they work for you..you are their client, and they will research the market, and bring back the best value to you- any other ???..holler back at me—I am a retired Independent Insurance Broker for life and health insurance, and a retired CPA, CFP, LUTCF also…good luck to you !!
You're not likely to find out exact contracted rates. Hospitals don't even have the same rates across all insurers. (And they have some incentive to keep those rates somewhat secret – don't want to let Insurer A know that you're giving Insurer B a better rate, otherwise Insurer A will be knocking on your door to renegotiate.)
When I worked in a contracting department, we'd try to ballpark the rates that other insurers were getting by using EOBs that we had access to.
This strategy might work for you – if you know others who have used services at this hospital and who will let you see their EOBs, you can compare the billed charges to the insurance allowed amount to get an idea of what kind of discount the hospital is giving to insurers. It won't be scientific or exact, but at least it will get you in the ballpark.
No matter what state you are in, your best bet is to go to an independent agency that has contracts with more than one insurance company. In addition, you need to realize that some agencies deal soley or primarily with personal insurance (for the needs of individual people and their families) while others deal soley primarily with commercial insurance (for the needs of businesses). Other agencies deal with both.
If you go to an agency that has contracts with more than one insurance company, they can look at several different plans and suggest which one would be best for your needs. An agency that specializes in personal insurance or deals with personal and commercial insurance more of less equally will give you the best service.
There can be. Most insurance companies offer substantial discounts on the policies, for having both policies with the same company – up to 40% off, depending on the company, the policy, and your state.
When you're looking at rates, ask to compare WITH a "companion credit" or "package credit" or whatever the name is that they call it. You might be VERY surprised.
One more thing – you ALSO should go check with complaints, at your state insurance department website. Here in Texas, Liberty Mutual has the highest percentage of "upheld complaints" – where they unfairly denied coverage, the customer complained, and the insurance commissioner agreed that Liberty Mutual was acting unfairly.
First of all, Obama is not going to bring in universal healthcare. He wants to make insurance more available to all.
Second, of course universal health-cover sucks. That is why we in Western Europe have it. We think, hmm, our healthcare system sucks. I know, lets keep it. I guess that is the same with Japan and Canada as well.
FACT – the USA spends more on healthcare PER PERSON than any other nation on the planet.
FACT – the US has higher death rates for kids aged under five than western European countries with universal health coverage.
That means that a dead American four year old would have had a better chance of life if they were born in Canada, France, Cuba, Germany, Japan etc, all of which have universal health coverage.
There's a pretty good book out there about marketing (in general) titled "Guerilla Marketing" by Jay Conrad Levinson or How to Drive Your Competition Crazy by Guy Kawasaki.
Both are pretty good and give you some pretty good ideas.
Call 1-800-WEINSURE. Ask for Patrick or Dick and tell them you want to check on their program. Pretty slick and it WILL make your phone ring.
Next – network. Join the Chamber, get out and about and everyone gets a business card.
Try your local "want ad papers" like Thrifty Nickel or whatever. Run some ads in "the readers" – not display ads. CHEAP CAR INSURANCE and your phone number.
Join your agent association in your area – either PIA or Big I and go to conventions or insurance Expos. Even go to events in other States. I have been going to the Insurance Expo in Atlanta for the past 10-12 years and ALWAYS come back with SOMETHING!
Give everyone of your customers several of your cards. Write THEIR name on the back and have them give them to their friends and have their friends come to your office for for quotes. When they come in with the card, put the card in a box and every quarter, give away a color TV or something nice. Take pictures of you giving the winner the remote control, hang the picture somewhere prominent and do the same thing over again.
I could go on and on – so, email me direct and I can do what I can to give yo usome more pointers.
From 1990 to 2000 I had car insurance and homeowners insurance with Allstate.
There were a few car accidents that Allstate took care of right away.
Also, there was a situation where my condo was leaking water into the condo below. Again, Allstate took care of it right away.
I use Geico now and haven't had a claim with them.
I think that all the major companies will respond properly. All I can say is to really document things well. Pictures, police reports, anything you can.
Insurance companies may or may not send out an adjuster. If they don't, you just need really good paperwork to satisfy them.
They are not interested.
They are happy till money flows regularly to their vanity bags.
They are not interested to know from where and how they money is flowing.
They want to spend the money, not to manage it.
